Glashütte Original shines luminous with new creations

Taking its name from the town considered to be “the birthplace of German watchmaking”, the beginnings of Glashütte Original, the brand, really has its roots in the watchmaking history of Glashütte, the town, initiated by the founding of Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s workshop in 1845

The contemporary brand title itself was established in 1994, when the East German conglomerate, VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB), the product of an amalgamation of all of the watch companies based Glashütte in 1951, became privatised. Today, Glashütte Original is part of the renowned Swatch Group, which has modernised its production facilities, and merged the brand with Deutsche Zifferblatt Manufaktur (DZM), a Swatch Group premium dial crafting division. Glashütte Original timepieces are endowed with the traditional Saxon art of precision watchmaking, combined with creative innovation, as is evidenced by its 2015 novelties:

Femininity takes pride of place in this collection; the new creations boast fresh dial designs with circular centres ranging from minimalist silver to scintillating mother-of-pearl and galvanic black, cabochon or brilliant-cut diamond indexes and lugs studded with 42 brilliant-cut diamonds. The two variations of both new Pano models feature off-centre hour and minute hands and a small seconds display. The PanoMaticLunar models include the Panorama Date and a splendid moon phase display. The PanoReserve models feature the Panorama Date and a power reserve indicator. The red gold editions are offered with a choice of either a matte black Louisiana Alligator leather strap or a Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap, while stainless steel can be worn with a dark blue calf’s leather or Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap.
