Zenith Star shines bright
The new range of Star 33mm models are the perfect declaration of love for women who wish to adorn their wrists with timeless elegance housed in a colourful masterpiece
Zenith has unveiled three new models that belong to the Star 33mm collection, whose beauty is radiated in a seductive appeal highlighting the time-honoured expertise of the Manufacture. Similar to the 2014 models, the three new feminine editions cover the main periods of the day; where one model is dedicated to daytime wear, another for evenings and the third for special gala nights.
While the shape of their case is a cushion-cut classic, the design of the Star 33mm stands out for its external creativity as well as featuring spectacularly simple functions of just hours, minutes and small seconds. The first model is the Origami, which offers a horological interpretation of the Japanese paper folding technique also known as origami. The intricate dial is designed in a three dimensional style to demonstrate the effect of the delicate Japanese art, where the main focal feature of the small seconds is offset to 9 o’clock in a charmingly discreet way, whilst four brilliant-cut diamonds serve as hour-markers to punctuate the passing time for this delightfully fresh watch that is proving extremely popular.
The second model features a white mother-of-pearl backdrop, on which several layers of colour have been printed so as to achieve various hues of red as well as a mesmerising shading effect that is housed in a steel case with a gem-set bezel. Rhodium-plated and facetted hands journey around the colourful dial signalling the time, whist a small seconds counter appears at 9 o’clock. The third watch features a case, dial and pin buckle hand-set with brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.54 cts. The 18K gold plate dial demonstrates the skill of three master artisans, who have lavished their attention on the details of the dial: the engraver, who has hand-drawn the floral motif; the enamellist, who has delicately coated the petals with transparent blue enamel; and the gem-setter, who has adorned the rim with diamonds. Just as on the other models, the distinctive nature of this flower lies in the fact that its ‘offset centre’ contains the small seconds at 9 o’clock.
Absent of complex horological functions, these three two-hand models are driven by the Elite 681 ultra-thin automatic Manufacture calibre. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 VpH and water-resistant to 30 metres, this movement is endowed with a minimum 50 hour power reserve and its oscillating weight is adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, a signature feature of high-end movements. The unique simplicity of the three new timepieces is completed with a rolled-edge alligator leather strap that is finished with rubber lining.
