2015 releases for women by Jaeger-LeCoultre
The eloquence of gemstones, the virtuosity of an architectural construction, and the journey of horological innovation by the artisans of the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux, all converge to create the beautifully exquisite Jaeger-LeCoultre astral themed ladies line for the year 2015
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s longstanding natural affinities with gem-setting are increasingly strengthened by the artisans’ desire to give life to their most promising notions, and the 2015 collection is no different.
Rendez-Vous Celestial
In tribute to astronomy, the distinctive Rendez-Vous Celestial unleashes its seductive power on the lucky few women who wear it. Reflecting the flamboyant colours of a blazing sun, the 37.50mm case is crafted in warm-tinted 18K pink gold, while the dial is created using bordeaux aventurine. Sparkling diamonds circle the bezel, paving a way to the two crowns that each boast an inverted diamond. One crown operates the movement of the golden star to the desired Rendez-Vous time while the other adjusts the sky chart, the hours and minutes to the required setting.
The top of the dial is lined with smaller diamonds that highlight the prominent Arabic numerals that form an arc from number 9 to 3, which keeps in line with the curve of the guilloché crescent that sits above an astral sky. The astral sky, also known as a sky chart, is illustrated on a disc that is powered by a mechanical automatic 809/1 calibre at the almost imperceptible cadence of 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds – a highly symbolic figure for all those who are fascinated by astronomy. The signs of the zodiac and various constellations have been painted onto the rotating disc to specify the position of the constellations at any time of the year, via an annual calendar that regulates the time display and measurement system. The movement consists of 238 parts, 42 jewels and hums at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour allowing the watch to maintain a 40 hour power reserve.
Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater
The latest musical timepiece is a much welcomed addition to the ever expanding Rendez-Vous line. Following on from the Tourbillon, Celestial and Perpetual Calendar watches infused with the artistic and horological creativity of Jaeger-LeCoultre, comes a model that is a long overdue gift for women. The first minute repeater to bestow its beauty on the feminine Jaeger-LeCoultre collection is a result of ten long years of research and development to achieve the purest and clearest sound. Achieving a perfect blend of aesthetics and technical superiority, the Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater is emblazoned with a floral ivy motif on a sunburst guilloche dial that is crafted from white gold. The 39mm 18K white gold case is encrusted with two rows of breath-taking diamonds that lead to diamond encrusted lugs.
Powered by a new in-house built 942A calibre, the new opus beats at a cadence of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 43 hour power reserve. The striking watch is fitted with two patented trebuchet hammers which strike two crystal gongs producing a magnified loudspeaker effect that is activated by a single pushbutton that replaces the traditional repeater slide system. Fitted with a safety feature that protects the movement from unintentional damage should the pushbutton be pressed again whilst the minute repeater is already in action, then the mechanism is designed to ignore the command, thereby protecting the complex movement. Presented on a satin bracelet, the watch is water resistant to 30 metres and boasts a total of 2.3 carats worth of dazzling diamonds.
Rendez-Vous Moon
Awarded with a powerful and beautifully presented Moonphase display, the Rendez-Vous Moon timepiece features an eye-catching blue gem-set dial that displays all the phases of the moon which is designed to remain accurate for an astounding 972 years. Occupying half the dial, the deep blue celestial night sky reveals the constellations and shines with cabochons that represent the stars whilst the mother-of-pearl moon disc sits below at the 6 o’clock position. In the upper part of the dial, Arabic numerals arc from number 9 to 3 and are pointed to by floral style white gold hands.
Stimulated by an automatic 935 calibre, the Rendez-Vous Moon timepiece beats at a rhythm of 28,800 vibrations per hour and consists of 41 jewels whilst retaining a power reserve of 43 hours. The mechanism is encapsulated within an 18K white gold case that is protected with sapphire crystal where the bezel is adorned with a row of diamonds that lead the way to two imposing crowns set with an inverted diamond. The crown at 2 o’clock adjusts the Rendez-Vous star indicator while the second crown at 4 o’clock adjusts the time and the Moonphase function.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has chosen to offer this remarkable masterpiece in two sizes; a 36mm and a 39mm which offer subtle differences. The 36mm edition features 1.46 carats of diamonds and is water resistant to a depth of 30 metres whilst the 39mm features 2.86 carats of diamonds and is water resistant to 50 metres. Both versions are available with a blue satin strap.
