Exceptional Pieces at Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet watches collection

Audemars Piguet watches collection: Audemars Piguet has come a long way since Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet first joined forces to design and develop watches featuring complex mechanisms in 1875.

Finding its niche, the brand specialised in the making of miniature and extra-thin calibres, and soon after presented the smallest ever repeater movement of just 15.80mm in diameter

This year, Audemars Piguet encapsulates the sweeping forests, fields and glacial rock of the Vallee de Joux into its advertising campaigns.

The brands birthplace is the inspiration behind the natural artistry and technical mastery of its timepieces.

Three new collections have been launched that highlight the skilled Maison’s uncompromising methods, rare craftsmanship and innovation.

Audemars Piguet Men’s Collection

A Royal Oak timepiece is immediately recognizable thanks to several prominent features. Its state-of-the-art engineered strongbox case, the octagonal bezel which is secured by eight hexagonal screws, the visible water resistance gaskets and the dials which are engraved with an exclusive engine-turned “Grande Tapisserie” print.

The majority of the models showcased in the men’s collection are based on the exterior features of the Royal Oak line. For the year 2015, Audemars Piguet has chosen to highlight its unique minute repeater timepiece;the Royal Oak Concept RD#1.

Sonically developed in collaboration with the EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), this timepiece has achieved the perfect sound quality after an eight year period of sound-research.

Audemars Piguet’s key to this achievement was to develop a new striking mechanism regulator that is almost silent, as without reverberation, the tone of the chiming sound is immediately brighter and clearer.

Another model featured in this collection is the Royal Oak Offshore Self-winding Tourbillon Chronograph, calibre 2897, with its large, bold and rugged exterior; this timepiece has been adapted to suit sports enthusiasts.

The Two-tone Self-winding Royal Oak, is a model which combines opposing materials of steel and pink gold, whereas the steel speaks of the original 1972 model, maintaining the iconic Royal Oak look, while the pink gold adds a touch of warm accents to the exterior finishing.

One of the final two models in the men’s collection is the Royal Oak Offshore Diver, calibre 3120 that comes in either a black or silver toned dial. The final model that does not bear the Royal Oak name, is the Millenary Quadriennium, which boasts a “quadriannual” calendar that only requires adjusting once every leap year. The distinctive oval case houses advanced precision instruments in the form of the Audemars Piguet escapement and double balance spring.

Audemars Piguet Women’s Collection

Audemars Piguet watches collection: The Swiss Manufacture has been crafting complicated watches for women for over 130 years, combining engineering excellence with an understanding of aesthetics characterised by the trend in each era.

In a time when timepieces were tucked deep in waistcoat pockets, Audemars Piguet excelled in concealing its marvels inside jewellery pieces specifically for ladies.

Exclusive brooches, pendants, handbag watches and other assets have survived the test of time and are now part of the Audemars Piguet heritage collection.

The artistically pleasing, complex 2015 collection is an extension of previous feminine lines and as demonstrated in the Millenary line that is powered by a 5201 hand-wound calibre; it is stylish, technical and bold with a strong womanly identity where Audemars Piguet recognises that women require timepieces that are reliable, expertly crafted and striking to wear.

Other models in this collection are the Diamond Punk, a stunning haute Joaillerie cuff watch set with 7,848 brilliant-cut diamonds that luminously reflect the traditions of the Le Brassus Manufacture.

The watch is equipped with a hidden sliding cover, which when pushed back, unveils a further 300 brilliant-cut diamonds encrusted on the dial.

The final model showcased in the women’s collection is from the Royal Oak line, where for the first time in Audemars Piguet’s history, a two-toned Royal Oak timepiece has been presented in a unification of durable steel and pink gold.
