Trilobe unveils an Arab timepiece for Dubai Watch Club

Trilobe, in conjunction with Dubai Watch Club, has debuted its new Trilobe x Dubai Watch Club timepiece – a limited edition of only 66 pieces

The story began when members of the Dubai Watch Club met and interacted with the team of watchmakers from Trilobe, who have been disrupting the way time is presented on wrist watches, at the Dubai Watch Week. The result of this meeting of watchmakers and horological aficionados from diverse cultural backgrounds is a visually stunning timepiece that celebrates horology, artistry, and Arabic culture.

Based on Trilobe’s Nuit Fantastique collection, this edition differs significantly in numerous ways – all adding immensely to the appeal of the timepiece. It took nearly three months to work out the design elements of the watch, to the satisfaction of both Trilobe and the Dubai Watch Club. The first significant difference is in its size: while Nuit Fantastique is a 40 mm watch, this edition is slightly smaller at 38.5 mm.

The dial of the watch is an incredibly attractive shade of green – no surprise as the Middle East loves this shade. What adds to the beauty of the colour is the dial finishing, which is inspired by the Mashrabiya pattern that is so evocative of the Middle East. The use of Indo-Arabic numerals adds to the regional motif.

The heart of this horological masterpiece is Trilobe’s iconic automatic X-Centric calibre. The self-winding mechanical calibre’s micro-rotor is personalised with the words “Dubai Watch Club” engraved on it. Beating at 28,800 vph, the X-Centric boasts a power reserve of 48 hours. Housing this powerful calibre is a case made of titanium, with a domed bezel and sapphire crystal. The case is water-resistant to 30 metres.

A patented display indicates the hours, minutes, and seconds by means of rotating rings and fixed indicators. Trilobe has changed the way time is read – here, time literally moves while the indicators are fixed. Three concentric rings representing the hours, minutes, and seconds move  counter-clockwise to indicate the time. The largest, outermost ring displays the hours, the median one the minutes, with the central one marking the seconds. The timepiece is completed by a brown leather strap with a pin buckle.
