Jaquet Droz introduces Asian mosaic art to watchmaking
Inspired from a journey to Vietnam, the artisans of the Swiss watchmaker, Jaquet Droz, introduced the Asian art of eggshell mosaic that has never before been used in watchmaking. The artisans assembled about 2,000 pieces of shells from quail eggs to create the striking motif ornamenting the new Petite Heure Minute Mosaic Elephant with particular meticulousness and care. The decorative theme continued on the underside of the watch, engraved on the 22-carat red gold oscillating weight driving the doublebarrel self-winding mechanism of this timepiece, which was produced as a limited edition of eight models. An exceptional work of artistry, it is a complete expression of the creative, nomadic soul of Jaquet Droz and the excellence of its Ateliers d’Art.
