Chopard celebrates Porsche’s 18th win of 24 Hours of Le Mans
The haute horlogerie maison of Chopard, “Official Timing Partner” of Porsche Motorsport since 2014, once again supported the German team for 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016
Often called the “Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency”,the 24 Hours is the world’s oldest endurance sports car race, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, France. On June 18 and 19, Porsche was fighting for its 18th victory in the 24 Hours after an extraordinary first and second-spot triumph in 2015. This year, the Porsche cars crossed the finish line on the first and on the fourteenth position, sealing an outstanding victory for the team.
In 2014, Chopard became “Official Timing Partner” of Porsche Motorsport for the German racing team’s grand comeback to endurance competition. In the same year, in honour of its close ties with Porsche, Chopard launched a Superfast chronograph inspired by the Porsche 919 Hybrid competing in the World Endurance Championship LMP1 category.
This year, Chopard presents the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Black Edition chronograph, a 100-piece limited series inspired by the new Porsche 919 Hybrid 2016. Exclusively available in Chopard boutiques, the imposing 45 MM case made of titanium is bead-blasted and blackened by a DLC treatment that makes it extremely scratch-resistant and water-resistant to 100 metres.
The new timepiece uses an in-house movement, the Chopard Calibre 03.05M, which has a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement that has a 60-hour power reserve and features a flyback function.
