A. Lange & Sohne unveils Saxonia Thin in two sizes

The pink- or white-gold Saxonia Thin, the thinnest A. Lange & Söhne timepiece so far, has a height of just 5.9 millimetres. This masterpiece is now available in two sizes – 37 MM or 40 MM

In 2011, A. Lange & Söhne presented the Saxonia Thin, enriching the Saxonia family with a model that perpetuates the traditional characteristics of its lineage with lucid sleekness and radiant elegance, with the additional feature of being the thinnest model of the entire collection so far. Five years after its debut, the graceful two-hand watch now presents itself anew with a subtly reworked dial that reflects the current design of the Saxonia timepiece family.

In comparison with the earlier model, the baton-style hour markers in solid gold have been slightly extended and moved closer to the bezel. This gives the argenté-coloured solid-silver dial extra prominence. Originally unveiled at the SIHH in Geneva in January 2016, the Saxonia Thin is available through retailers in pink and white gold, with a case diameter of either 37 or 40 millimetres.

Both versions are powered by the manually wound calibre L093.1 movement, which is a scant 2.9 millimetres thick and features the Lange-typical finissage of all parts. Manually wound, the movement is decorated and assembled by hand; precision-adjusted in five positions; made of untreated German silver; with its balance cock engraved by hand.

Its classic quality hallmarks include the German-silver three-quarter plate decorated with Glashütte ribbing, solarised winding-train wheels, three screwed gold chatons. With 167 movement parts and 21 jewels, it has a power reserve of 72 hours with the time indicated in hours and minutes.

The white-gold case has a dial of argenté-coloured solid silver, with hands of rhodiumed gold, hand-stitched alligator leather strap in black, and white-gold prong buckle. The pink-gold case also has a dial of argenté-coloured solid silver, but with hands of pink gold, hand-stitched alligator leather strap in reddish brown, with a pink-gold prong buckle.

Lange crafts only a few thousand wristwatches in gold or platinum per year. They are endowed exclusively with proprietary movements that are lavishly decorated and assembled by hand. With 54 manufacture calibres developed since 1994, A. Lange & Söhne has secured a top position among the world’s finest watch brands. Brand icons, such as the Lange 1 with the first outsize date in a regularly produced wristwatch and the Zeitwerk with its precisely jumping numerals display, rank among the company’s greatest successes. Sophisticated complications such as the Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar “Terraluna”, the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater and the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon reflect the manufactory’s determination to achieve ever new pinnacles in horological artistry.
