Breguet revels in its largest art exhibition in the Americas
Breguet commemorates its 240th anniversary this year through “Breguet: Art and Innovation in Watchmaking”, its largest exhibition of timepieces in the prestigious Legion of Honour
In honour of its remarkable heritage, renowned watch brand Breguet observed its milestone in an equally historic art exhibition that opened on the 19th of September, 2015 at the illustrious Legion of Honor at the Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco, USA. The art exhibition titled “Breguet: Art and Innovation in Watchmaking” was arguably the most expansive collection of timepieces by a single brand ever to be curated by a major art museum.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Breguet and its President & CEO, Mr. Marc A. Hayek, hosted a gala dinner for the press and friends of the brand from across the USA, Asia and Europe on the 16th of September, 2015 that took place at the museum.
Items on display spanned from the beginnings of the firm in 1775 to the Art Deco period of the mid 1900s, with one watch standing apart from the rest, the 2008 reproduction of the “Marie- Antoinette” watch, which has made its mark on the watchmaking landscape and the minds of collectors for more than two centuries. Some of the most important timepieces on display are early pocket watches with tourbillon movements made by the inventor himself, A.-L. Breguet.
The “Breguet: Art and Innovation in Watchmaking” would run until the 10th of January, 2016.
