Carl F. Bucherer unveils new edition of Patravi TravelTec II
Presented in 2015, the Patravi TravelTec II, a unique chronograph with three time zones, now gleams in rose gold and blackened titanium
More than a decade old, the Patravi TravelTec family continues to enthrall Carl F. Bucherer connoisseurs and aficionados. This is why the series continues to welcome new additions, with the brand launching the Patravi TravelTec II this year.
The TravelTec II features a distinctive case in warm rose gold coupled with a caseback and pushers in lightweight titanium with a black DLC coating. A highly vibrant and elegant colour combination that is rounded off by a black dial and a black strap ensures a sophisticated timepiece that really catches the eye.
Patented mechanism
Measuring 47.4 mm in diameter, the enormous rose gold case alone leaves a lasting impression. The watch is water-resistant to 100m (10 atm of water pressure), endowing it with the potential of becoming an everyday favourite for confident men.
The watch is also highly appealing technically as it features a chronograph with three time zones. A speciality of the TravelTec family, this patented mechanism, exclusive to Carl F. Bucherer, is integrated into the case and can be admired through a lateral viewing window. The pusher at 10 o’clock adjusts the rotating bezel with 24-hour scale beneath the sapphire crystal – depending on whether the wearer is travelling west or east, the 24-hour ring can be moved forward or backward in one-hour steps.
Three time zones at a glance
The local time is indicated by the hours and minutes hands on a 12-hour basis. The minutes hand moves continuously, while the hours hand can be adjusted forward or backward in one-hour steps. When passing midnight, the date also changes both forward and backward. The second time is indicated by the 24-hour hand and the fixed outer bezel, while the third combines the 24-hour hand with the rotating bezel mentioned above. The 24 time zones and associated reference cities are engraved on the base, with Lucerne – the home of Carl F. Bucherer – representing Central European Time (CET).
Short-time measurements
The TravelTec II also masters short-time measurements thanks to its highly precise, chronometer-certified caliber CFB 1901.1, which also features a chronograph function for timing sporting events that last anywhere between one second to twelve hours.
The Patravi TravelTec II in rose gold houses an automatic caliber CFB 1901.1 chronometer movement, with a diameter of 28.6 mm, thickness of 7.3 mm, 39 jewels, and 42 hours of power reserve. Its functions include that of a chronograph with three time zones: date, hours, minutes, and small seconds.
Housed in a case of 18-karat rose gold and blackened titanium, with a screw-down crown, sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides, and water-resistant to 100m (10 atm), the case has a diameter of 47.4 mm and a thickness of 15.9 mm.
