More dancing diamonds and bejewelled owls from Chopard
Haute horlogerie and joaillerie marque Chopard is again offering wonderful bejewelled horological creations to its women clientele. In addition to two jewellery editions of the Happy Sport, the brand has unveiled a Happy Hearts watch and an Owl jewellery watch with twin dials
Happy Sport Joaillerie
The Happy Sport watch and its legendary dancing diamonds are reinvented in two jewellery versions, showcasing diamonds by means of a prong setting. Instead of the traditional gold capsule with a spinning-top like base, which holds the dancing diamonds and enables them to turn without tipping over, the Chopard choreographers have been able to use a prong setting that holds the stones in place with only five prongs on the sides. This new technical feat gives the diamonds a lighter and even more luminous effect. The same gem-setting procedure is also used on the bezel and the hour-markers of the timepiece, creating a rich and graceful result. The 36 mm case of these new jewellery versions of the Happy Sport, also entirely paved with brilliant-cut diamonds, is in 18-carat gold of ethical origin and is available in white or rose gold. Beneath the two sapphire crystals staging the seven dancing diamonds, the textured mother-of-pearl dial has been meticulously engraved with a guilloché motif.
At the heart of the timepiece, Chopard has housed its ultra-thin 96.17-C mechanical movement with automatic winding. Entirely developed in the workshops of the Maison, where its 167 components are assembled, it provides a comfortable 65-hour power reserve.
Valentine’s Day 2020 Happy Hearts watch
The timepiece from Chopard’s Valentine’s Day 2020 Happy Hearts collection is a masterpiece of love and craftsmanship in itself. The 30-mm timepiece in 18-carat rose gold and stainless-steel case houses a dancing diamond, a dancing heart charm in 18-carat rose gold and mother-of-pearl, and another dancing heart charm in 18-carat white gold set with diamonds, all three twirling on a mother-of-pearl dial. The watch is presented on an interchangeable white leather strap.
Red Carpet Collection 2020 watch
Official partner to the Cannes International Film Festival since 1998, Chopard annually unveils an Haute Joaillerie collection named Red Carpet. A great lover of Nature, Caroline Scheufele has chosen this subject as the main theme for the 2020 Red Carpet Collection. Chopard is thus revealing the first creations stemming from the brilliant talent deployed in its workshops. The latest iteration of the “Owl” jewellery watch features two dials – which form the eyes of the nocturnal creature and indicate the time in two different time zones – surrounded by multicoloured sapphires.
