Colourful fluids and rainbows from HYT
Radical watch creator HYT turned to advanced technology to measure what matters: time’s insuppressible flow. Overcoming the force of gravity, they set out to visualise the intrinsic motion of time using liquids. This year, the marque’s fluidic modules are in vibrant colours of red, blue, and the multiple shades of the rainbow
H20 – Red Fluid – Limited edition of 5
This five-strong limited edition celebrates the series’ huge capacity to shape the brand’s past, present and future. In the latest model, a red lacquered line guides the eye on its 360° tour of time, around the side of the domed crystal. This elegantly surmounts and descends the crown, while neat red markers cap the numbers circuiting the case. The H20 translates the language of transparency directly on to the dial with its clear view of the watch’s operation. Centre-stage is the seamless collaboration of the HYT patented fluidic module and mechanical movement developed specially by APRP. The angled positioning of the two multi-layer bellows underlines the emphasis on three-dimensionality.
H5 – Blue Fluid – Limited edition of 25
In the 501 movement, which took two years to develop, a hand-winding unit releases the right amount of energy for two contrasting immiscible liquids to tell time. The see-through sapphire case back exhibits an intricately shaped cam that offers 13 possibilities to adjust the hour and minute indications, ensuring they operate as one. The timepiece combines an array of shades of grey – from anthracite on the hour-ring and flange, to a gun-metal bridge – with dynamic coloured accents to offer a layered look. White Super-LumiNova under the blue liquid shows elapsed time, and the neoralite hour ring, while a bright red arc and a black hand marks the power reserve.
H0
The H0 timepiece invites reflection on one’s own perception of time. This edition uses the power of monochrome to present a distraction-free view of fluidic time. Instead of the conventional importance on midnight and midday, the timepiece focuses on the hour of 6 o’clock to encourage contemplation of alternative turning points in the day – darkness and light. Mirroring the outline of the sun, orange Super-LumiNova, underneath the capillary, charts time’s flow. The domed sapphire crystal facilitates different perspectives on the passage of time. Any visual punctuation of the monochromatic whole is carefully considered – from the Super-LumiNova touches on the flange numbers and hands, to the ultra-fine markers on the dial.
Soonow Instant Rainbow
This multi-coloured timepiece integrates the HYT patented fluidic module. Yellow and blue colours trace the paths of elapsed and future time. Light dances on the dial featuring 668 sapphires, amethysts and tsavorites in 14 colour variations. In combination with the violet anodised titanium dial, covered with 313 18-carat yellow gold pins, this heightens the overall radiance of the piece. The right eye of the skull shows the power reserve, while the left indicates the seconds. Different monochrome Super-LumiNova outline the eyes, nose and mouth. And, as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the hoped-for pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, is a grin full of solid gold teeth.
Soonow Drop Three – Limited edition of 5
The anodised titanium dial of the Soonow Drop Three presents a turquoise canvas for a skull in burgundy and orange. This incorporates 313 pins in 18-carat rose gold and almost 1,000 high-precision perforations. Smiling out of the skull are rose gold teeth that engage rather than spook. One eye socket acts as a colourful power reserve display. The other focuses on the passing of the seconds, featuring “small print” SOON turning into NOW. Meticulous micro-painting subtly frames the skull’s facial features, while Orange Super-LumiNova here, and underneath the capillary, adds a vibrant signature.
