Dazzling Diamonds By The Yard from Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co. presented new additions to the Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard collection. Elsa Peretti created her revolutionary Diamonds by the Yard collection in 1974 as an homage to a bezel-set diamond ring that her grandmother wore every day
In her pursuit to make diamonds more wearable and to give them an everyday sensibility, Peretti’s strands of bezel-set diamonds measuring one yard instantly captivated the world. Her approach was based on simple, organic shapes and diamonds of varying sizes positioned gracefully along precious metal chains that scintillate like droplets of light against the skin.
Embodying the effortless elegance that the designer imbued in all her creations, Peretti’s indelible Diamonds by the Yard collection forever changed the way diamonds were worn – all day, every day and always.
Elsa Peretti said that her client was herself; a working woman. It was the ’60s, early ’70s, and there was a new generation of working women, who wanted to buy jewellery for themselves, jewellery to wear day and night; jewellery to represent their freedom.
The range of Diamonds by the Yard styles included creations crafted in platinum, 18k yellow or rose gold, and sterling silver, and featured single-stone and multi-stone designs. The collection comprised necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings. The concept of Diamonds by the Yard expanded over time to include two additional collections: Color by the Yard and Pearls by the Yard.
