Feminine masterpieces from Franck Muller
Franck Muller – the Master of Complications – is back in action. The brand recently unveiled two watches for their female clientele who are interested in Haute Horlogerie. While the Vanguard Lady draws inspiration from the Cintrée Curvex, the Double Mystery evokes the classic elegance of the marque’s Round line
Vanguard Lady
The Vanguard line is enriched with a new feminine interpretation, featuring dynamic details as well as elegant and sensual characteristics. Drawing its inspiration from the perfect Cintrée Curvex curves and reaffirming the startling identity of the Vanguard collection, the Vanguard Lady is characterised by its glamorous details.
The sun-stamped dial is adorned with the coloured appliqué relief numbers. The distinct and feminine numbers perfectly complement the sporty and bold design of the case. While the Vanguard architecture remains true to its original design, the Vanguard Lady is completed by the iconic rubber and alligator strap with feminine coloured stitches. The coloured winding crown adds the finishing touch to this piece of feminine charm.
Housing either an automatic or quartz movement, the Vanguard Lady is available in stainless steel, 18 carat rose gold and black PVD and is seen in a wide range of colours. This new collection is at once sporty in terms of its impressive shape and yet very feminine through the elegance of its style.
Double Mystery
Purity and sober design are the guiding principles of the Round collection. Effortlessly feminine, the beautiful design of the Round articulates Franck Muller’s vision of femininity, seduction and elegance. From classic and simple models to exquisite complications featuring breath-taking engraving on the movement such as the Double Mystery, the Round collection really emphasises classical sobriety with distinguished elegance.
The Double Mystery collection is characterised by an innovative display system. Compared to a traditional system, the hands are replaced by two discs and the numerals by two indexes. The first index is placed on a central disc and allows the reading of the hour whereas the second index is placed on an outer disc allowing the reading of the minutes.
This invention represents a technical challenge and was patented in 1998. It consists of an additional module placed on the basic movement. The hour indication comprises a disc fixed on the axis of the hour wheel and the minute indication is constituted of a toothed crown external and concentric to the hour disc. The hour and the minute are read through two indexes: the index placed on the central disc indicates the hour and the index placed on the external disc indicates the minute.
The Double Mystery collection is an exuberance of colours and gemstones. The Quatre Saisons, for example, has a dial set with 218 round diamonds (1.89 cts) and 14 baguette colour stones (1.49 cts); the bezel set with 258 round colour stones (3.75 cts); the horn set with 42 round colour stones (0.65 cts); while the Round case is of 18 carat rose gold set with 120 white diamonds (1.22 cts).
Rubies, emeralds, blue sapphire, yellow sapphire, orange sapphire, pink sapphire, violet sapphire, garnet tsavorite, garnet pyrope, garnet spessartite and amethyst are used in this one-of-a-kind timepiece. The watch houses an FM 800 Calibre automatic movement with 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
