Frederique Constant lives its passion
Swiss watch Manufacturer, Frederique Constant, is renowned for its refined classical timepieces, sold at reasonable prices. Established in 1988 by Dutch entrepreneur Peter Stas and his wife Aletta Bax, the brand launched its first collection of six Swiss-made models in 1992 and is involved in all stages of watch production, from initial design to final assembly
Since 2002, the company owns Alpina Watches, a manufacturer of Swiss sports watches that was founded in 1883 and is famous for its red triangle signature. The brand’s popular slogan “Live your passion” is a true embodiment of the business, its people, and its products, and couldn’t be better illustrated than in the form of its 2015 new editions. Recently, the family-owned, independent luxury watch brand has turned its attention to fitness and lifestyle tracking and with the support of Alpina, launched the Horological Smartwatch that works alongside any given smartphone. Other newbies to the market are the Manufacture Worldtimer and the Manufacture Zodiac 24H, whose details are listed here and all incorporate the values of Frederique Constant’s slogan.
Manufacture Worldtimer
The Worldtimer range is one of Frederique Constant’s most successful line of timepieces that has welcomed a new addition for 2015; the Worldtimer Navy Blue. Designed for the frequent traveller, the watch features technical functions that are accessed by the crown. The main function, for which the collection is named after, can be used by selecting the desired city and placing it at the 12’oclock position on the dial. Once the internal discs are synchronized, wearers will be able to read the various times in the biggest cities around the world. Other functions are the day/night disc, which appears white for daylight hours and blue for night time hours, and the date counter, positioned at 6 o’clock. Driven by the FC-718 Manufacture automatic caliber, with 26 jewels and a 42 hour power reserve, the movement is completely developed in-house at the manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates in Geneva.
The incredible deep blue dial is the focal feature of this watch, where a detailed anthracite grey world map is illustrated in the centre. Time is indicated by silver hour and minute hands that are coated with luminous white, making it legible in dark environments. The magnificent dial is secured in a three part stainless steel case, convex sapphire crystal and a transparent case back, making the watch water resistant to 50 metres. A unique blue alligator leather strap completes the timepiece and it is presented in a luxurious wooden gift box.
Horological Smartwatch
The Horological Smartwatch is a product of three entities, Alpina, Frederique Constant and Fullpower Technologies, Inc. of Silicon Valley and is a fusion of sophisticated technology and traditional Swiss craftsmanship, blending modern with the classic. Powered by MotionX®, the Swiss Horological Smartwatch is designed to communicate bi-directionally with iPhone and Android apps to monitor lifestyle cycles. The Smartwatch is equipped with an array of functions to assist the wearer, for example, the MotionX® patented sensor-fusion engine tracks activity and sleep patterns with high accuracy and the information is presented in real-time on the Smartwatch using beautiful traditional analog dials with laser cut hands, instead of on a monotonous digital screen. Information is synchronized automatically with applications, where data can be read on smartphones with simple and easy-to-understand graphics. This data will assist users to better understanding themselves, and along with appropriate goal setting and intelligent coaching, will improve their overall well-being. The Horological Smartwatch is offered in over 10 different models for both men and women, in stainless steel or rose gold.
Slimline Moonphase Manufacture
Combining feminine grace and elegance with technological innovation, Frederique Constant has unveiled the new Slimline Moonphase timepiece, specifically aimed at women. Sharing similar features and functionality to the men’s version, the difference lies in the 60 magnificent and dazzling diamonds that adorns the ladies 38mm case. Perfectly proportioned, the watch sits snug on delicate feminine wrists and is powered by a FC-703 Manufacture automatic caliber, with 26 jewels and a 42 hour power reserve. The movement is housed in a three-part stainless polished rose gold plated steel case that is water resistant to 30 metres. The impressive domed silver dial is adorned with eight hand-applied nickel indexes and hands that are protected by a convex sapphire crystal. These stylish watches are equipped with a sapphire case back that allows the performance of the FC-703 movement to be observed. Timeless but in the spirit of the time, the Slimline Moonphase Manufacture possesses a distinctive design, and is a fashionable accessory that will accompany any occasion.
