H. Moser & Cie. goes against the tide
Originally founded in 1828 in St. Petersburg, Russia, by entrepreneur Heinrich Moser, the independent, Swiss, family-run business, H. Moser & Cie. has gained recognition for exceptional quality timepieces of today. In 2012, the brand was acquired by MELB Holding and re-evaluated its philosophy to one that is based on passion, love and dreams
Innovation, ingenuity and superb mechanics are poured into the very few timepieces that H. Moser & Cie. manufacture in-house, which are all finished by hand. The company’s research and development department, technical section and integrated assembly workshop ensure that most parts of the movement are made internally, and that all design, research and development is also carried out on the premises; consequently a very limited number of timepieces are produced, but the quality and precision is guaranteed. One such example can be seen in the 2015 talking piece which was previewed at Baselworld and is a unique piece; The Venturer Tourbillon Dual Time Sapphire Skeleton boasts a world first 3D printed strap that supports an entirely crafted sapphire crystal case. Other ingenious timepieces of this year are further listed below.
Venturer
The Venturer collection welcomes a new member into its folds with the Venturer Tourbillon with a blue fumé dial. The mysterious midnight blue of the dial is a stunning sea of tranquillity that houses a tourbillon at 6 o’clock and exhibits the minutes, hours and seconds, where the red seconds hand can be hidden with a simple click of the crown. Crafted in white gold, with its pure lines and smooth curves, the creation is inspired by the historic H. Moser & Cie. pocket watches and the convex shapes popular in the 1960s.The collection also lends its name to the latest Venturer Small Seconds timepiece, which is the first model in the range to feature a small seconds’ display intentionally positioned as close to the bottom of the dial as possible. This model is available in two new designs for 2015; a white gold case with an ardoise fume dial that is presented on a matte black alligator strap with a carbon-effect finish, or a white gold case with a white dial, boasting Roman numerals and a black alligator leather strap.
Endeavour
This collection is a tribute to Heinrich Moser’s earlier work, where perseverance was paramount in achieving success. Joining last year’s model, the Perpetual Calendar Black Edition, a new model has been unveiled for 2015; The Perpetual Calendar Funky Blue, a bold reinterpretation of Haute Horlogerie featuring a sky blue dial and a robust, rustic kudu leather strap. Exuding a classic appeal, the watch avoids modern trends with a step away from the typical old-fashioned timepieces that one’s grandfather may have worn. Powered by the HMC 341 manufacture movement, this perpetual calendar uses the indexes to show the months and can be adjusted forwards or backwards at any time without risk to the mechanism. It also features a power reserve indicator on the left of the dial.
Concept Watch
Led by a young, dynamic and ambitious team, H. Moser & Cie. is going against the tide by going back to the basics to unveil a watch of absolute purity. The Concept Watch is a modest creation that features the brand’s signature fumé dial that is absent of a logo, hour markers, dates, and useless functions that are usually found on most modern watches of today. The accent has been placed on luxury craftsmanship without the frills of heavily funded marketing campaigns. With this resolutely vintage piece, H. Moser & Cie. demonstrates that a real luxury product is immediately identifiable even without a visible logo or brand identifier, just like a painting that remains unsigned by the artist. This timepiece is crafted in 18 carat white gold with polished and satin-finished flanks and is completed with an alligator strap. Driven by a hand-wound HMC 343 calibre, the three hands of the timepiece move around a dial of classic, timeless beauty.
