Hermès Arceau Automatic Revisited
The French design Maison’s signature timepiece is endowed with a few dazzling tweaks, which maintains the striking elegance of the timepiece while further enhancing its overall charm
Boasting a marginally reduced diameter of 40mm, the classic, rounded case is available in both steel and rose gold versions. Another stand-out novel feature on the new Hermès Arceau Automatic timepiece is the addition of a subtle date window just above 6 o’clock. As is expected of the luxury brand, its latest timepiece is distinguished by a design which captures emblematic originality, melding sophistication and saviour-fair, with harmoniously balanced proportions.
The refined timepiece for men showcases an opaline silvered dial that is embellished with a herringbone motif at its centre. Two slender central hands sweep around the twelve sloping numerals, which are an idiosyncratic feature of the Arceau line. The stylish and timeless Hermès Arceau Automatic is available in rose gold with a havana alligator strap and in steel with a black alligator strap. The Hermès mechanical manufacture movement H1837 powers this timepiece.
The Arceau design watch became synonymous with Hermès almost four decades ago, when the original model was designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978. Inspired by the characteristic elegance of horses, its asymmetric lugs echo the shape and curve of a stirrup. The spirit of the house is impeccably embodied in this line, displaying ingenuity and meticulousness, as evidenced by its design and craftsmanship, and in the making of exclusive hand-finished movements.
