Hublot Tourbillon Watches
Founded in Switzerland in 1980, HUBLOT is defined by its innovation, which began with the highly original combination of gold and rubber. The release of the iconic, multi-award-winning Big Bang in 2005 paved the way for new flagship collections (Classic Fusion, Spirit of Big Bang), with complications ranging from the simple to the highly sophisticated, establishing the extraordinary DNA of the Swiss watchmaking house and ensuring its impressive growth. This year, Hublot is back with another stunning tourbillon and with watches that pay homage to the world of racing cars
Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon
The new Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm carries all the spirit of the Big Bang in a barrel-shaped watch, with a carbon-fibre case that has black or blue occlusions. This timepiece beats to the rhythm of the new HUB6020 tourbillon movement, specially designed for this case. The Spirit of Big Bang is, for the first time, fitted with the “One-Click” fastening system, allowing the strap to be changed easily and quickly.
Immediately recognisable from all the other collections, the Spirit of Big Bang cultivates its difference while sporting all the codes of Hublot’s DNA. Starting with this Art of Fusion, now a signature in terms of materials: for the first time in this collection, the barrel-shaped case is made of carbon-fibre integrating black or blue composites. In the same material, the bezel is held by 6 H-shaped titanium screws while the case back, also in carbon, surrounds a sapphire crystal.
Structured, airy, technical; the driving force behind the new Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm is a concentration of innovations and expertise. The most emblematic complication in fine watchmaking, both spectacular and visual, the tourbillon – incorporating a mobile frame making one complete rotation per minute – offsets the force of terrestrial gravity for increased accuracy. Specifically developed for this barrel-shaped case, the HUB6020 movement reveals an hours and minutes dial off-centre at 3 o’clock, the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, and an indicator for the 5-day power reserve at 8 o’clock, with the hand-winding via the large fluted crown.
The two limited editions, in black carbon composite and blue carbon composite, with 100 models for each, come with a black structured rubber strap lined respectively in black or blue/black.
Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT
The Classic Fusion Ferrari GT watch, in a vibrant homage to “Grand Touring” cars, has a watchmaking chassis that is both traditional and modern, in line with the stylistic codes of the GT universe.
The famous UNICO manufacture movement HUB1280 has been integrated into a 45-mm-diameter Classic Fusion case. The second of Hublot’s own chronograph calibres, unveiled in 2018, it is protected by four patents. This self-winding flyback chronograph movement, with 4 Hz frequency and a column wheel that can be seen from the dial side, has technical specifications that are fit for a champion with, in particular, a thickness of only 6.75 mm and 3-day power reserve that is very useful for day-to-day life. The Classic Fusion Ferrari GT is available in three different cases: Titanium (limited edition of 1,000 pieces), King Gold (limited edition of 500 pieces) and 3D Carbon (limited edition of 500 pieces).
New to the world of fine watchmaking, 3D Carbon is a polymer matrix composite (PMC) made of three-dimensional fibres, and is a high-tech material that is very popular in motorsport. Designed by the “Centro Stile Ferrari”, the new Classic Fusion Ferrari GT is true to the image of the creations leaving the Maranello workshops. The dial is transparent, thanks to the use of sapphire crystal, and reveals the high-precision mechanics of the UNICO HUB1280 calibre, with the famous Prancing Horse appearing at 12 o’clock. The straps of the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT have been subtly created in black rubber and dressed in Schedoni leather, like the seats of the Maranello race cars. Round like a racing tachometer, the new Classic Fusion Ferrari GT has a thickness of only 13.15 mm, a rarity for an integrated flyback chronograph.
Hublot Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th Anniversary
Hublot is marking the occasion of Scuderia Ferrari’s 90th anniversary with the Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th Anniversary watch, a new model available in three limited edition versions. Conceived in collaboration with the Ferrari Design Centre, the 45-mm-diameter watch houses the UNICO movement, a flyback chronograph that offers a 72-hour power reserve. Their bezel is cut in ceramic carbon, the same material that is used for Formula 1 brake discs.
The first version is inspired by the early years of Scuderia Ferrari and its glorious past. The visible metal parts, the peccary leather from the bucket seats and the brushed look of the dashboard are represented here by the platinum case and the stitched perforated strap. Its dial evokes old-fashioned speedometers with its calendar underlined in yellow.
The 3D carbon that is used to make the case of the second edition reflects the present-day Scuderia Ferrari. Its strap is made from Nomex – the fire-resistant synthetic fibre used to make racing driver’s suits – on which the red-and-black stitching makes a striking contrast. Its colour code is black and red, the colours currently used by Scuderia Ferrari for its single-seater Formula 1 cars.
The third model is made from sapphire, giving it a resolutely futuristic style. It demonstrates the extreme sophistication that technology is heading towards and the possibilities for the future. Its strap adopts a highly futuristic Kevlar look.
Each of the three versions of the 90th Anniversary watch bears one of the three colours of the Scuderia on its border, the numbers and the index. Yellow for the platinum edition, red for the 3D carbon edition, and black for the sapphire edition. All three will be produced in a limited edition of 90, and 10 ‘collector’ sets with all three watches will also be available.
