Precious timekeepers from HYT
HYT watches
HYT’s watches overcome the force of gravity to indicate the passage of time with liquids. Highly advanced technology took its cue from philosophy to mirror time’s intrinsic fluidity, evoking history that began 3,400 years ago with the Clepsydras, or water clocks, of the Pharaohs. These so-called “water thieves” transported H2O from one container to another to measure elapsed or “stolen” time. This meaningful visualisation of the transition of time seemingly disappeared until 2012, when HYT broke new scientific ground, inventing a wristwatch integrating a patented fluidic module. A coloured liquid documents the recent past; a transparent fluid indicates the foreseeable future. This year, HYT offers more stunning versions in haute horlogerie…
HYT watches: H0 Time is Precious
The H0 Time is Precious by HYT features a stunning dial, comprising 63 mirrored facets, each lightly tilted at an angle. The use of monocrystalline silicon and ultra-sharp laser cutting take haute-horlogerie marquetry into three-dimensional cubism on the dial. A seamless relationship between the HYT patented micro-fluidic module and proprietary mechanical calibre constantly and precisely document time’s passage. The side view of the watch hosts the phrase “Time is Precious”, engraved front-on and in mirror writing around the stainless-steel case. Four windows of different shapes and sizes punctuate the dial, offering a glimpse of time’s transience. The two bellows that act as the pulse of the red and clear liquids that trace time’s progress, a power reserve display, and a disc showing the advancement of the seconds are all visible. Signing off allegiance to full transparency is a sapphire minute counter and see-through rubber bracelet.
HYT watches: H0
The H0, like its creator HYT, is born of a question on the nature of time. This watch invites highly precious stones to flow through its design to shine light on time’s essential passage. Underneath the drop-like sapphire glass of this spectacular H0, snow-set diamonds all over the dial give the impression of water droplets delivered directly by nature. The diamonds cascade down the sides of the case to form rivers circumnavigating it. Engraved numbers around the largely transparent case cast individual shadows to reinforce the three-dimensional theme. There are two very different interpretations of the H0. One underlines the vibrancy of life with red-coloured liquid tracing the path of elapsed time and a red alligator strap. Red detail on the hands and power reserve display punctuate the diamond ocean. Its counterpart contrasts the sparkling backdrop with black as a further stamp of sophistication.
H1.0
The H1.0 is a timepiece that showcases the injection of physical energy into a patented fluidic module, and is empowered by three-dimensional transparency. All elements of the specially developed skeletonised mechanical movement collaborate closely to form the big picture of pure functionality. From the clearly visible power reserve display, to the constructed wheel that indicates the flow of the seconds, time is in perpetual motion. Even the side-view of the watch tells the story of time’s passage via cut-out digits embedded in the deep grooves of the case’s exterior. The fluid storytelling is confirmed by water resistance to 50 meters. There are three versions of the HYT H1.0; silver, black, or anthracite case finishes complement bright blue, green, or red immiscible liquids that flow perfectly in time with the elapsed hours. All are secured to the wrist with a subtly patterned black rubber strap and titanium buckle.
H20 “Time is Fluid”
The H20 “Time is Fluid” puts the core HYT concept of time’s vital passage into words. Circuiting the flange is the sentence “TIME IS FLUID”. A creative tension between craftsmanship and technology fuels the combination of a patented micro-fluidic module and a specially developed APRP mechanical movement. The diamond guilloché decoration on the minute and second discs and the main plate betray the signature of haute horlogerie, as do the offset diffusion of the patterns on the counters and the powerhouse represented by the regulating bellows. Time’s flow is expressed by smooth angles, fluid shaping and virtually no straight lines. Its core message is one of balance – between heritage and innovation, warmth and cold, and the past and future that meet in the present. H20 “Time is Fluid” comes in two versions – one in 18 carats yellow gold (2N) and the other in stainless steel. Both are limited editions.
