IWC Schaffhausen opens boutique in Dubai
IWC Schaffhausen, with retail partner Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, opens new boutique in Dubai, marking the occasion with a special Pilot’s Watch exhibition
A ribbon-cutting ceremony signalled the launch of the boutique, while a special Pilot’s Watch exhibition was held from October 16 to 22 to mark the occasion.
Devoted entirely to IWC’s fine watches, the boutique’s luxurious flooring and alluring entrance draw visitors into the world of IWC, while clean lines and warm colours highlight the brand’s six different product families.
As 2016 is the year of the Pilot’s Watch, the star of the show is the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” – IWC’s homage to the French author and aviation pioneer. The complicated timepiece features a tobacco-brown dial and a calfskin strap reminiscent of Saint-Exupéry’s flying suit.
The perpetual calendar displays the day, date, month and year, and needs no manual adjustments until the year 2100. Powered by the IWC-manufactured 52610 calibre, the timepiece is limited to 750 pieces.
Also on display is the Big Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince”, which marks IWC’s first integration of the annual calendar complication into a Pilot’s Watch. The solid gold rotor of the Pellaton automatic winding system revolves eccentrically around its axis and shows the Little Prince – the main character of Saint-Exupéry’s famous novel – standing on his asteroid and gazing at the stars. The 18-carat red gold watch, powered by the IWC-manufactured 52850 calibre, is limited to 250 pieces.
