Jaquet Droz adds a warm touch of sparkle to 2015

At the dawn of the 17th Century, a new substance was accidentally discovered when an artisan glass-maker dropped miniature shards of metal into a vitreous paste, resulting in “Aventurine”

Aventurine glass is a product of chance, also known as “avventura”, which loosely interpreted means “adventure” and is a fascinating material for artists to work with. The stunning splinters of light thrown from the warm-hue surface dazzle and naturally catch the eye, just as it did with Jaquet Droz, which pursued this aesthetic adventure by introducing a new variety of timepieces to its existing collection for the year 2015: The Sunstone, where flecks of gold scintillate in an ember-like glow of spellbinding intensity.

Three new models feature a Sunstone dial; the Grande Seconde Cerclée, where the 8 formed by the two interlocked dials is surrounded by the shimmering glow, the Petite Heure Minute 35mm and the Lady 8 which are both caught up in a sensual flurry of golden specks, making them more vibrant than ever. Although each watch is energised by different calibres, they all beat at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and store large power reserves of 68 hours.  The Sunstone range of timepieces are limited editions of just 88 pieces per model and each Sunstone dial features 18-carat red gold hands that complete a circular journey in 18-carat red gold cases that are water resistant to a depth of 30 meters. The watches are finished with rolled-edge hand-made brown alligator leather straps and 18-carat red gold folding clasps or buckle.
