Maurice Lacroix launches understated luxury
Since 2006, Maurice Lacroix took its place in the horology industry as a Manufacture that produced complex movements entirely in-house for its mechanical timepieces
Maurice Lacroix established state-of-the-art workshops in Montfaucon in the Jura region of Switzerland, not far from the Maurice Lacroix watch ateliers, where skilled craftsmen work on miniature movements that are modified and fitted with the highest quality components, which guarantee precision timing. The fully equipped workshops use the latest CNC technology to produce low-volume individual parts with high added value.
Among its many collections tailored for both men and women, Maurice Lacroix chose to revamp its Eliros line for the year 2015. Showcasing pure classicism and simplicity, intertwined with the best of Swiss mastery in watchmaking, the timepieces incorporate fine craftsmanship with a sleek, modest exteriorthat comes with an affordable price tag. Nearly 10 years after its last presentation, the celebrated brand focused its energy on producing two new models in three various designs; the Eliros Chronograph and the Eliros Date which also has a ladies edition. Both Eliros models are powered by a superior Swiss quartz movement and each timepiece is equipped with Maurice Lacroix characteristics, such as the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a stainless steel case that is water resistant up to 50 metres and the brand name that is adorned in the upper section of the dial.
The Eliros Chronograph features a 40mm stainless steel case that hints at a sportier look with a retro-chic finish and two pleasantly integrated chronograph push-pieces. The large date displayed just beneath the XII Roman numeral, is a prominent feature that does not impede on the balanced layout and readability of the sub-dials. The hours and minutes function is read by silver central hands that journey around the main dial, whereas beside the III Roman numeral, a small sub-dial indicates the passing of small seconds, whilst on the opposite side, positioned beside the IX Roman numeral, another sub-dial displays the 30-minute counter. The eight printed indexes and four Roman numerals are made from stainless steel and are set on a silver or black sun-brushed dial. Each watch is concluded with a stainless steel milanaise bracelet or a calf leather strap.
The second model in the Eliros collection is the 38mm gents Eliros Date, and its ladies counterpart that measures slightly smaller at 30mm in diameter. Both are crafted in stainless steel with pink gold Roman numerals, indexes, hour, minutes and seconds hand. The date model emphases the bare essentials; the reading of time, yet the dial is subtly enhanced with a date indication at the 3 o`clock position. Printed indexes and four Roman numerals result in a timeless, discreet design of the sun-brushed dial, which is available in four different colours: silver, black and anthracite with silver or gold colored indexes and numerals. The design is completed by matching coloured straps manufactured in calf leather that is embossed with the stylish “M” logo.
