Synonymous with excellence in craftsmanship and design, Montblanc has been pushing the boundaries of innovation since 1906. Ingenuity and imagination continue to be driving forces for the Maison today as it unveils a number of additions to its 1858 family…
1858 Geosphere Limited Edition 1858
Inspired by the explorations of legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner, Montblanc unveils the new Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Limited Edition 1858 that pays tribute to his five-week solo trek across the Gobi Desert in 2004. Reproducing the rocky terrain colour scheme, the timepiece harmoniously combines a satin-finished bronze case with a special engraving on the case back, a bi-directional shiny brown ceramic bezel, a smoked brown and beige lacquered dial, and a matching vintage-brown Sfumato calf strap. The timepiece is powered by the Manufacture automatic Calibre MB 29.25. This distinctive complication displays two hemispheres that bring an instinctive way of reading different time zones. The timepiece has two domed turning hemisphere globes at six- and 12 o’clock, which are surrounded by a fixed scale with the 24 time zones and include a rose gold-coated and brown day/night indicator (for both the Northern and Southern hemispheres). The longitude reference meridian for both hemispheres is highlighted with a black line coated with Super-LumiNova. A second time zone, for home time, is located at nine o’clock and a date aperture (linked to the local time) is located at three o’clock.
1858 Monopusher Chronograph Origins Limited Edition 100
Paying tribute to the origins of Minerva, Montblanc unveils a re-edition of a 46 mm military monopusher chronograph from the 1930s that was equipped with the calibre 19-09CH. Equipped with the Manufacture monopusher chronograph calibre MB M16.29, the timepiece features a 46 mm case made of a special alloy of bronze, a distinctive “officer” case back, a vintage black dial with beige elements, and a matching brown Sfumato alligator strap. As on the original chronograph calibre, the MB M16.29 features the iconic V-shape bridge (whose design was protected in 1912), a column wheel, horizontal coupling, and a traditional frequency of 18,000 A/h. For this limited edition, the main plate and bridges have been left in raw Maillechort (“German-silver”), a high-end traditional material used in earlier Minerva movements. The Maillechort gives a slightly yellowish finish, rather than the more common rhodium coating. As a tribute to historical movements, the Minerva arrow is visible at the extremity of the chronograph “blocker”. The timepiece comes with a black dial that has been paired with contrasting rose gold-coloured cathedral-shaped hands and numerals with beige Super-LumiNova for greater legibility at night.
1858 Split Second Chronograph Limited Edition 18
Reinterpreting a 46 mm Minerva historical military chronograph from the 1930s, the chronograph features a case made of an innovative 18K gold alloy called Lime Gold, a distinctive gold-coloured dial with contrasting green elements and a matching vintage green nubuck calf strap. It is the first time that a watch maison unveils a model with this colour. The Lime Gold colour is made of a special alloy composed of 18K Gold, Silver, and Iron. Matching the44 mm 18K Lime Gold case, the timepiece features a distinctive gold-coloured dial with sunray finishes. The central chronograph second hand, the chronograph 30-minute- and small second-counters are also gold-coloured. Like the original timepiece, this edition has a telemeter scale that runs around the dial, and a tachymeter (base 1000) at the centre of the dial in a colimaçon (snail shape) that lets the user measure a length of time of up to three minutes instead of one minute. The case back reveals the Manufacture monopusher chronograph calibre MB M16.31. For this limited edition, the plates and bridges are made in Maillechort (German-silver) plated in 18K gold.
