New iterations of Oyster Perpetual from Rolex
In its perpetual quest for excellence, Rolex constantly enhances the aesthetics and technologies of its emblematic timepieces. This year, the marque is back with a new edition of the Oyster Perpetual Air-King, a 31mm version of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust, and an iteration of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 in 950 platinum and a fluted bezel
Oyster Perpetual Air-King
The latest Oyster Perpetual Air-King case has been redesigned with a crown guard and straight sides, as has the Oyster bracelet, with the centre link broadened. Equipped with an Oysterlock safety clasp, the watch’s display is perfectly balanced with a ‘0’ before the ‘5’ on the minutes scale. The optimised Chromalight display guarantees maximum legibility in dark conditions. The hands and triangular hour marker at 12 o’clock are filled or coated with a new exclusive luminescent material, providing a longer-lasting intense glow, as are the 3, 6 and 9 numerals. The watch is equipped with Calibre 3230, enabling it to display the hours, minutes and seconds, and carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, ensuring excellent performance.
Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31
Rolex offers three new versions of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31 with striking floral-motif dials. The floral-motif dial is azzurro blue in a white Rolesor version (combining Oystersteel and white gold) featuring a fluted bezel. The second watch has an olive green dial in a 18 ct yellow gold case, while the third – an Everose Rolesor version (combining Oystersteel and Everose gold) – houses a silver dial. The yellow gold and Everose Rolesor editions feature a bezel set with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds, and a President bracelet and a Jubilee bracelet respectively. All editions house the calibre 2236 – enabling them to display the hours, minutes, seconds and date – and carry the Superlative Chronometer certification.
Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40
This was the first calendar wristwatch to indicate, in addition to the date, the day of the week spelt out in full in a window on the dial. Rolex is releasing the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 in 950 platinum – with an ice-blue dial – and a fluted bezel for the first time. A material with exceptional luminosity, platinum is challenging to work with, especially finishings. Producing fluting with the perfect shape and sparkling surfaces was a technical feat that the brand was able to realise thanks to its outstanding expertise. The new version of the Day-Date 40 is equipped with the calibre 3255, displaying the hours, minutes, seconds, day and date. The timepiece carries the Superlative Chronometer certification.
