New SeaQ editions from Glashütte Original

Glashütte Original upholds the values of authentic manufactory production and can look back on an uninterrupted history that began in 1845. The tradition-rich brand produces up to 95 percent of all movement components as well as the filigree dials in-house, and represents the German art of watchmaking at its best. This year, the brand is back with two new iterations of its iconic SeaQ – the SeaQ Panorama Date in reed green and SeaQ in black and red gold

SeaQ Panorama Date in reed green
The latest version of the SeaQ Panorama Date is presented in a stainless steel case with a generous diameter of 43.2 mm. Inside, protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that is anti-reflective on both sides, a shimmering reed green dial backs hands, numerals and indexes coated with Super-LumiNova to make them stand out clearly even in the dark. The German manufacture’s signature Panorama Date is positioned at 4 o’clock, while the fluted unidirectional rotating bezel presents striking accents and a reed green ceramic inlay.

Whether on land or in the water, the SeaQ Panorama Date feels at home everywhere. This amazing resilience has its origin deep in the heart of the watch. Anchored in the case with a bayonet mount, the manufacture’s 36-13 mechanical movement is particularly shock-proof, ticks precisely and reliably up to a pressure of 30 bar (300 m), and has a power reserve of 100 hours. Its silicon balance spring is immune to the effects of omnipresent magnetic fields that can impact the rate precision of ordinary mechanical watches. Each of these luxury timepieces not only meets all the requirements set by the DIN 8306 and ISO 6425 standards for professional diver’s watches, but is also run through a demanding 24-day series of tests – the Excellence Test. The entire movement is made and finished by hand in the workshops at Glashütte Original. Its first-class decorative finishes are easily admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The new SeaQ Panorama Date comes with a rubber strap, stainless steel bracelet or ultra-robust fabric strap.

SeaQ in black and red gold
The latest SeaQ model favours the play of contrasts. For the first time, this 39.5 mm version of the outdoors specialist opens up the case back with a sapphire crystal to reveal the finely finished manufactory movement. And the combination of classic black and refined red gold turns the SeaQ into a sporty and elegant everyday companion – although it’s anything but ordinary. As diver’s watches compliant with the relevant DIN and ISO specifications, all SeaQ models are subjected to an elaborate, multi-phase set of tests at the manufactory.

The latest member of the SeaQ family is presented as a stylish and confident all-round player in a red gold case, water-resistant up to 20 bar (200 m). The shimmering precious metal is set off nicely by a galvanic black dial with sunray finish and a unidirectional counter-clockwise rotating bezel with black ceramic inlay. Striking indexes, numerals and hands with Super-LumiNova coating allow the wearer to check the time in the dark as well. Completing the look is a black rubber strap or – for an even more urban look – a grey synthetic fabric strap, both fitted with a red gold butterfly shape folding clasp.

Contrasts define the design of this SeaQ. Timeless black meets the warm glow of red gold, genuine sportiness joins mechanical perfection. For the first time, the mechanical heart of the SeaQ can be admired through a sapphire crystal case back, which reveals the robust Calibre 39-11 manufactory movement with automatic winding. Along with the hours, minutes and seconds, it also drives the date display at 3 o’clock. It goes without saying that this finely finished Glashütte manufactory movement is hand-crafted, decorated and regulated in the manufactory’s own workshops.
