Omega begins Timekeeping duties at Paralympics 2024
Coinciding with the colourful Opening Ceremony along the iconic Champs-Elysées, Omega’s countdown clock near the Eiffel Tower finally reached zero, and signalled the start of this inspiring competition, and the start of the brand’s role as Official Timekeeper. The Paralympic Games Paris 2024, which took place until September 8, welcomed around 4,400 athletes, who competed in 22 sports in front of a global audience. Omega first timed this competition at Albertville 1992. The partnership with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has grown ever since then and is a natural continuation and evolution of Omega’s role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games – a responsibility it has now accepted on 31 occasions since 1932. There were 549 individual events measured at this year’s Paralympic Games, each with its own specific requirements and category challenges.
