The Swiss watchmaker Omega hosted a black-tie celebration in London with guest of honour Daniel Craig, and presented two new watches: the Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years of James Bond – Stainless Steel and the Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years of James Bond – Canopus Gold, to mark 60 years of James Bond
Omega watches have been an essential part of 007’s famous attire since “GoldenEye” in 1995, when the Oscar-winning costume designer, Lindy Hemming, equipped 007 with a Seamaster Diver 300M, believing it was the most suitable choice for his British naval background.
Omega created a spy-inspired night at a secret location – featuring a dramatic live experience based on the world of James Bond complete with movie props and gadgets from Q’s Lab – while a full line-up of James Bond’s Omega watches was also on display. Included in the night’s action was Daniel Craig, who portrayed 007 in five films, is an Omega ambassador and a great fan of the brand’s watches, with other celebrity guests.
Omega also unveiled two watches to mark the occasion. Both watches create watchmaking magic through its film-themed caseback, which replicates the famous 007 opening sequence – with Bond in silhouette and a spinning gun barrel design. This dynamic scene plays out beneath the sapphire, decorated with micro-structured metallisation. The patent-pending “moiré” effect animation is linked to the running of the lollipop central seconds hand, so the action never stops.
Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years of James Bond – Stainless Steel
Inspired by the Seamaster that 007 wore in “GoldenEye”, this 42 mm timepiece in stainless steel is driven by a precise Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 and is presented on a mesh-style bracelet – evoking James Bond’s Omega watch in “No Time To Die”. The bezel and dial are blue oxalic anodised aluminium, with the dial featuring laser-engraved waves, and the bezel featuring a diving scale filled with white Super-LumiNova. The commemorative “60” replaces the diving scale’s traditional inverted triangle, and luminescent green dot that links to the minute hand. The watch is offered in a bespoke presentation box.
Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years of James Bond – Canopus Gold
Omega’s 18K Canopus Gold has been used to craft this special 42 mm watch. In a nod to the beautiful sands of Ian Fleming’s Jamaican home GoldenEye, the dial has been made from natural grey silicon, with unique dials. In tribute to the Jamaican flag, the bezel is circled with a paving of green and yellow treated natural diamonds in 10 different tropical shades. Two additional clear diamonds at 12 o’clock add some vibrant sparkle to the look and reference the 60th anniversary.
The watch is powered by the luxury Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807 and is presented on a bracelet and buckle in 18K Canopus Gold, in a customised mango tree box with mother-of-pearl marquetry and a 60 Years of Bond logo, referencing a famous song from the first James Bond film, while the mother-of-pearl is a nod to the shells of Crab Key.
