Only Watch returns to exhibit one-of-a-kind pieces
For the first time in its existence, the Only Watch auction is set to take place in Geneva this year, as over 40 extraordinary luxury timepieces will be displayed in aid of charity
In 2005, some of the world’s luxury watch brands and independent watch craftsmen stood united in the sincere commitment for research against the genetic disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This exceptional collaboration resulted in the very first Only Watch auction that took place in Monaco, where limited edition watches were sold solely for the aim of raising money for charity. To date, the unique event has collected more than 15 million Euros and has contributed to significant advances in medical research over the last decade.
Now, in its 6th season, Only Watch returns with the same mission but with a whole range of totally distinct timepieces from over 40 of the world’s finest watchmakers. Taking place every two years, the much-awaited charity event expects the attendance of hundreds of connoisseurs, donators and collectors who will undoubtedly voice interest for bidding on bespoke one-off pieces made by their favourite watchmakers.
These fascinating timepieces are currently travelling around the world on a 6-stage journey that began in September and is due to run through to November 2015. Its first stop was the Monaco Yacht Show (23rd-26th September), a supporter of the auction since its inception, where the watches were displayed in an exhibit strictly for viewing purposes only. The next stops include Hong Kong (2nd-5th October), Beijing (9th-12th October), New York (17th-20th October) and London (24th-27th October). The journey of Only Watch is due to end in Geneva where the watches will be auctioned in November in conjunction with the Geneva Auction Week.
Only Watch 2015 is organised by Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, Monaco Yacht Show and Phillips, in partnership with Bacs & Russo. The auction is scheduled to take place on the 7th of November, 2015, at 3 pm (GMT+1) in Geneva.
