Pomellato headlines as Italian ICON in Qatar
Featuring Pomellato as the only Italian jeweller, Qatar shone a spotlight on the Made in Italy design genius for the ‘ICONS, Voices of Design’ exhibition at the M7 Museum in Doha
Open from September 20 to December 20, 2023, the ICONS exhibition is curated by famed Milanese gallerist Rossana Orlandi in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in the State of Qatar and Qatar Museums. The expo celebrates what Italian talent, innovation, fashion, and technology have meant to Qatar and to the world and is divided into two parts.
The first part establishes a pre-designed path on which visitors can move amongst the design pieces, enjoying an immersive experience of lights and shadows, sounds and silences, and other digital technologies. The second portion is dedicated to Made in Italy design companies, with video montages telling their individual stories. With theatrical effect, architect Lucio Micheletti uses darkness as a frame throughout, dramatically revealing the shape of design pieces throughout the museum’s layout.
Pomellato’s understated yet elegant style has always been inspired by Milanese design and architecture. For the exhibition, Pomellato has lent the M7 museum two of its exquisite ICONICA collection pieces for display, which include a three-tiered contemporary bavarole necklace of rose and white gold – its handcrafted chain links encrusted with sparkling diamonds; and a brilliant maxi-bangle sculpted of precious rose gold.
