Record-breaking Piagett Altiplano 38mm 900P unveiled in Dubai
On November 25th, 2014, VIP guests of the luxury Maison, were treated to an exclusive event in the cosmopolitan city, which saw the extraordinary ultra-thin timepiece being presented
Set amidst a dark velvet sky, high above the soothing lull of Dubai creek, a new record-breaking moment unfolded on the balcony of the Traiteur restaurant at the Park Hyatt. During dinner, a movie was shown that highlighted the making of the Piaget Altiplano 38mm 900P, which won Piaget the award for the thinnest mechanical watch in the world, and solidified its status as ‘The Master of the ultra-thin.’
The Piaget Altiplano 38mm 900P is available in both pink and white 18K gold and has ample power reserve of around 48 hours. The secret of its sleek thinness lies in the case itself, which houses the calibre and is just 3.65mm thin. The case-back was machine-tooled to accommodate the mechanical components which allow the timepiece to function. The complex architecture needed to create such a piece, required the reverse construction of the movement, with bridges fitted on the dial side making them visible.
Piaget’s Brand Director for Middle East & India, Mr. Jean-Marc Chammas voiced his enthusiasm at the launch and stated: “We are thrilled to be launching the Piaget Altiplano 38 mm 900P, the world’s thinnest mechanical watch in the perfect city of Dubai. Launching this flawless timepiece in a city with people constantly striving for perfection further complements Piaget’s dedication to Perfection in Life.”
