Stunning Spherions from Purnell
Since its debut in 2020, Purnell has established itself as the maker of high-end, complicated timepieces endowed with the fastest triple-axis tourbillon the world has ever seen. In addition to their next-level performance, Purnell’s timepieces are distinctive for the motion of their rotating Spherion – single or as a pair – in a tourbillon cage that generates high emotion and brings a unique sophistication to high watchmaking
Escape II Absolute Sapphire Aurora Green
The Escape II Absolute Sapphire Aurora Green is 100% Swiss Made, like all of Purnell’s all-sapphire timepieces and showcases the heart of Purnell’s foundational complication: the World’s Fastest Double Triple-Axis Tourbillon. There is perfect uniformity in the shade and translucence of the sapphire, moulded in the form of the highly complex curves and angles of the Escape II 48mm case. The ethereal shade of green is an ode to the natural art that is the Northern Lights. The timepiece presents a 360° view of Purnell’s signature Double Spherion movement, with its outer cages set with a total of 304 brilliant-cut tsavorites, matching the 12 baguette-cut tsavorites (1.04 carats) half-bezel set in 18K white gold on the smoked sapphire dial. From moulding to the final polish, Purnell’s watchmakers take up to three months to completely set each cage of its Double Spherion with the conflict-free tsavorites – paired with the incredibly complicated process of assembling the Caliber P03 movement, 8 months of arduous craftsmanship went into creating this unique piece.
Escape Skull – Cactus Green
To wear a skull is to dare to take a chance and live life unconditionally. Purnell’s Escape Skull Cactus Green is the artistic interpretation of “memento mori”, the Latin expression dating back to the Greco-Roman era that the brand cherishes: a reminder of our humanity and to enjoy the present.
The Caliber P10, Purnell’s in-house flying tourbillon first introduced in 2021, takes on the form of a skull, crafted and polished out of cactus green anodised titanium. The skull, composed of two polished identical “faces”, weighs only 0.32gr and makes a full rotation in 30 seconds thanks to the flying tourbillon beating inside. Never before has a tourbillon been used to rotate a skull in a watch movement. Made possible only through Purnell’s motto to bring “More Future Than Past” in watchmaking, the brand has decided to take the concept of a skull and turn it – quite literally – on its head. Bold and vibrant, the Purnell Escape Skull is a reminder of the meaning of life through its ever-revolving hypnotising flying skull tourbillon – always in motion and moving forward.
