Speed, heritage, precision, and the relentless pursuit of excellence are all synonymous with TAG Heuer, and the watchmaking maison is keeping its spirit alive in all three of its latest editions – the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Senna, and the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana
The Swiss luxury watchmaker has introduced the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana, which captures the rich history of both TAG Heuer and Porsche and celebrates the 70th anniversary of Porsche’s victories at the legendary Carrera Panamericana.
The Carrera Panamericana, known for its perilous yet thrilling course, has been a legendary cross-country rally in the motorsport universe since its inception in 1950. In 1963, Jack Heuer, inspired by tales of the Carrera Panamericana race’s danger and excitement, was led to create a chronograph named the Heuer Carrera. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023, the TAG Heuer Carrera watch has cemented its standing as one of the most iconic and innovative wristwatches.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana’s design draws inspiration from the iconic Porsche 550 Spyder race car. The skeleton dial, with its elaborate details, mirrors the wheels of the 550 Spyder, while the colour scheme — silver, yellow, and black are directly drawn from the original vehicle’s livery. The yellow lacquered hand and subdial hands represent an extra added distinctive sporting touch in the watch.
The shimmery effect on the dial plate and subdials evokes the 550 Spyder’s bodywork, and the grained effect on the skeleton dial – inspired by the 550’s racing wheels – symbolises the asphalt texture of the road. Through the dial, the snail-brushed movement plate finish is visible.
The 42mm watch’s construction features a stainless-steel case with fine-brushed and polished alternating finishes, and an engraved “Spyder” logo on the side, resonant of the original font used by Porsche in the 1950s. The curved flange is adorned with the Porsche logo, and the “Panamericana” marking at six o’clock on the dial is a hint to the legendary race.
The timepiece boasts a domed sapphire Glassbox crystal offering an easy reading of the indications on the dial. The black perforated calfskin leather strap, with a yellow lining and stitching, adds a subtle sportiness and vintage charm.
At the heart of this masterpiece is the TH20-09 in-house tourbillon movement, offering a 65-hour power reserve. The Porsche steering wheel mass is visible through the sapphire caseback, a unique tribute to the automotive inspiration behind this timepiece.
Limited to just 255 pieces, this numbered edition is a nod to the number “55”, which decorated the Porsche 550 Spyder during its victorious run in the 1954 Carrera Panamericana. As was the case in 2023, Porsche and TAG Heuer will again present a unique one-off Porsche car, to celebrate both marques’ relationship with the Carrera Panamericana, to be revealed during the race’s stint in Mexico City.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Senna
The extraordinary life and career of legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna is being brought to life in the new Netflix series “Senna”. As part of this commemoration, Swiss luxury timekeeper TAG Heuer, in collaboration with the Senna Brand, has launched the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Senna, a timepiece dedicated to Senna’s legendary prowess and honouring the 30th anniversary of his legacy.
The six-episode Netflix series, starring TAG Heuer ambassador Gabriel Leone as Senna, offers a profound exploration of his journey from his early days in Brazil to his rise as one of Formula 1’s greatest drivers. Developed and produced with the support of Senna’s family, the series captures his biggest driving achievements, personal struggles, and relationships, concluding with the tragic accident at the San Marino Grand Prix.
The series also features heritage watches such as the TAG Heuer Senna S/EL Link Chronograph S25.706C, as part of the character’s wardrobe highlighting the continued relevance of Senna’s style and to ensure historical accuracy.
The collaboration between TAG Heuer and Ayrton Senna started in 1988, and, over the course of his career, the long-standing TAG Heuer ambassador redefined the word “drive” by breaking many records. TAG Heuer has since introduced numerous references that celebrate Senna’s legacy, including two chronograph tourbillons releases within the Carrera collection in 2018 and 2019.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Senna features a carbon bezel, inscribed with “Senna” and a tachymeter scale reaching up to 400 km/h, symbolising the speed and precision that defined Senna’s career. The nine o’clock subdial prominently features Senna’s branding, while the counter appears in a bold yellow, akin to the one of the Senna logo.
The skeleton dial, reworked with multiple finishes and incorporating a checkered flag motif, represents Senna’s victorious spirit. The case, crafted from grade-2 titanium, contains sharp, dynamic lugs with vertical brushing and sandblasted rims. The 44mm caseback reveals an iconic image of Senna with his helmet, provided by the Senna Brand. This image, coupled with limited edition markings denoting only 500 pieces, underscores the exclusivity and high demand for this exceptional timepiece. The timepiece is presented on a high-quality blue rubber strap, ensuring both durability and comfort.
During the launch event of this special edition honouring Ayrton Senna in his beloved Brazil, actor and TAG Heuer ambassador Gabriel Leone wore the limited-edition watch, adding a genuine touch to this heartfelt tribute.
TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph
TAG Heuer pays a playful tribute to the vibrancy of Las Vegas with the latest TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph. Introduced in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco with its bold, square shape, left crown, brushed and polished case and blue dial was unlike anything else on the market. Quickly becoming synonymous with the brand, it also turned out to be an industry favourite, amassing a following among racing enthusiasts and watch lovers alike.
The TAG Heuer Monaco’s heritage has continuously been linked to motor racing and the history of cinema, notably through its association with actor Steve McQueen. The watchmaker introduces this new pink iteration of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph, fusing playful and modern aesthetics with the collection’s rich heritage. At the heart of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph lies the in-house automatic Calibre Heuer 02, manufactured to ensure utmost precision and reliability. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the column wheel at 12 o’clock and the oscillating weight, accented in striking pink, enhance the technical allure while preserving modern and sporty aesthetics.
The lightweight titanium case, finished with a sleek black DLC coating, offers a contemporary design that contrasts with the bold pink accents on the 3 and 9 o’clock counters and hands, as well as on the chronograph seconds hand. The indexes, prominently displayed on the dial, follow the lines of the skeletonised architecture for a strikingly vibrant look. Crafted from a unique combination of leather and rubber, the strap balances style with functionality, perfect for a versatile wear.
