Ulysse Nardin debuts Freak One Navy Blue

The latest edition from Ulysse Nardin picks up the Freak One’s base characteristics: a 44 mm titanium case finished with satin-polished black DLC, and a bezel forged in Carbonium. The case is water-resistant to 30 metres. With no hands, the timepiece instead uses the tip of the flying carousel Calibre UN-240 Manufacture movement to indicate the minutes and a blue rotating disc with an engraved sunray pattern to show the hours. Its oversize silicon oscillator and balance spring create further visual drama, while the escapement wheel and anchor – the watch’s beating heart – are coated in DiamonSil, a combination of silicon and synthetic diamond. The watch is equipped with Ulysse Nardin’s innovative and highly efficient Grinder automatic winding system, with a maximum 90 hours of power reserve. The setting device is recessed into the case back, while the watch is finished with a pair of rubber straps made of 30 per cent recycled production waste.
